1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, accessing, or using SubTamer (the "App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the App. These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and SubTamer.

2. Description of Service

SubTamer is a subscription and recurring expense tracking application available on iOS and Android devices that allows users to manually enter, organize, and manage their recurring payments and subscriptions. The App provides visual tools including calendars, timelines, charts, and analytics to help users track their financial commitments and avoid missed payments.

Manual entry and tracking of subscription and recurring payment information
AI-assisted receipt scanning with automatic expense extraction (Full Plan only)
Subscription sharing via email with other SubTamer users
Visual calendars and timelines for payment schedules
Cost analysis and spending insights
AI-powered financial assistant for personalised insights, trend analysis, and predictions
Dynamic chart and visualization generation
Optional income tracking for enhanced analytics
Reminder notifications for upcoming payments
Data visualization tools and reporting
Cloud synchronization and backup

3. Receipt Scanning Features (Full Plan Only)

3.1 Receipt Scanning Functionality

Full Plan subscribers have access to AI-assisted receipt scanning that allows you to:

Capture receipt images using your device camera
Automatically extract expense information including merchant names, amounts, dates, and categories
Populate expense entries without manual data entry
Process receipts using Google ML Kit OCR and OpenAI GPT-4o-mini for intelligent interpretation

3.2 Receipt Scanning Technology

Receipt scanning utilizes:

Google ML Kit: For on-device Optical Character Recognition (OCR) to extract text from receipt images
OpenAI GPT-4o-mini: For intelligent interpretation of extracted text and automatic categorization
Device Camera: Requires camera permission to capture receipt images

Important Privacy Note: Receipt images are processed entirely on your device and are NEVER saved, stored, uploaded, or transmitted anywhere. Images exist only temporarily in device memory during OCR processing and are immediately discarded after text extraction. Only the extracted text is sent to our servers and OpenAI for interpretation.

3.3 Camera Permissions

To use receipt scanning, you must grant camera access to SubTamer. You acknowledge that:

Camera access is required only for receipt scanning functionality
You can revoke camera access at any time through device settings
Revoking camera access will disable receipt scanning but not affect other app features
You can manually enter expenses without using receipt scanning

3.4 Receipt Data Processing and Storage

When you use receipt scanning:

Receipt images are processed entirely on your device using Google ML Kit and are NEVER saved, stored, or transmitted
Images exist only temporarily in device memory during OCR processing and are immediately discarded after text extraction
Only the extracted text (not images) is sent to OpenAI for intelligent interpretation and categorization
Extracted expense data is stored with your account
You are responsible for the accuracy of scanned data and should verify extracted information
We have no access to your receipt images at any point in the process

3.5 Receipt Scanning Accuracy Disclaimer

Important: Receipt scanning uses AI and OCR technology, which may not be 100% accurate. You acknowledge that:

OCR and AI interpretation may produce errors or inaccuracies
You are responsible for verifying the accuracy of all scanned data
SubTamer is not liable for errors in scanned receipt data
Scanned data should be reviewed and corrected as needed
Receipt quality, lighting, and legibility affect scanning accuracy

4. Subscription Sharing Features

4.1 Subscription Sharing Functionality

SubTamer allows you to share your subscription and expense information with other SubTamer users via email invitation. You have control over:

Which users can access your shared data
What information is shared (subscriptions, expenses, optional income data)
The ability to revoke sharing access at any time

4.2 How Subscription Sharing Works

When you enable subscription sharing:

You can invite other SubTamer users by email address
Both you and the invited user must have active SubTamer accounts
The invited user receives read-only access to the data you choose to share
You can choose whether to share your optional income data
Shared data is clearly distinguished from the recipient's own data
You can revoke sharing access at any time, immediately removing their access

4.3 Receiving Shared Subscriptions

When another user shares their subscriptions with you:

You receive read-only access to their shared data
You cannot modify or delete their data
You can only view data they explicitly choose to share
Access is automatically revoked if they remove sharing permissions
Their income data is only visible if they choose to share it

4.4 Your Responsibilities When Sharing Data

When you share your subscription data, you acknowledge and agree that:

You Control Sharing: You are solely responsible for deciding who to share your data with
Trust and Discretion: You should only share data with users you trust, as shared data becomes accessible to them
Data Disclosure: Sharing data means disclosing your financial information to another party
No Control Over Recipients: Once data is shared, you cannot control how recipients view or use it within their own accounts
Privacy Risks: Sharing financial information carries inherent privacy risks
Regular Review: You should regularly review and manage your sharing permissions
Revocation Rights: You can revoke access at any time, but previously viewed data may have been seen by the recipient

4.5 Subscription Sharing Disclaimers

Important Limitations:

SubTamer is not responsible for how recipients use your shared data within their accounts
We cannot guarantee that recipients will not screenshot, photograph, or otherwise capture your shared data
Shared data may be visible to recipients even after you revoke access if they have saved or copied it
We are not liable for any consequences arising from your decision to share data with other users
Sharing is entirely at your own risk and discretion
We recommend sharing only with trusted individuals

5. AI-Powered Features

5.1 AI Assistant Functionality

SubTamer includes an AI-powered financial assistant that provides personalised insights, spending analysis, trend identification, predictive analytics, receipt interpretation, and expense categorization based on your subscription and expense data. This feature is powered by OpenAI's GPT-4o-mini model and generates dynamic visualizations using Mermaid markdown.

5.2 AI Service Integration

When you use the AI assistant or receipt scanning:

Your subscription data, expense data, receipt text, and queries are securely transmitted to OpenAI's servers for processing
OpenAI processes this data to generate insights, analysis, predictions, and interpret receipt information
You are subject to OpenAI's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy in addition to SubTamer's policies
Data sent to OpenAI may be retained for up to 30 days for abuse monitoring before being deleted

5.3 Optional Income Data

You may optionally provide income information to enhance the AI assistant's insights and recommendations. This information is:

Completely voluntary and optional
Used only to provide more accurate financial analysis and spending-to-income ratios
Under your complete control - you can add, modify, or remove it at any time
Processed with the same security and privacy standards as your subscription data
Shared with OpenAI only when you actively use the AI assistant
Shareable with other SubTamer users only if you explicitly enable this option

5.4 AI Accuracy and Limitations

Important Disclaimer: The AI assistant provides insights, analysis, predictions, and receipt interpretation based on the data you provide and AI processing capabilities. However:

AI-generated insights are not guaranteed to be accurate, complete, or suitable for your specific situation
Predictions and forecasts are estimates based on historical data and patterns, not guarantees
Receipt scanning and interpretation may contain errors or inaccuracies
The AI assistant does not provide professional financial, investment, or tax advice
You should not rely solely on AI-generated insights for important financial decisions
AI responses may occasionally contain errors, inaccuracies, or outdated information
The quality of insights depends on the accuracy and completeness of data you provide

5.5 Your Responsibility

When using the AI assistant and receipt scanning, you acknowledge that:

You are responsible for verifying the accuracy of AI-generated insights and scanned receipt data
You should consult qualified financial professionals for important financial decisions
You use AI features at your own risk and discretion
SubTamer is not liable for decisions made based on AI-generated insights or scanned data

6. Subscription Service and Pricing

6.1 Free Trial

SubTamer offers a 14-day free trial for new users. During the trial period, you have access to all premium features, including the AI assistant and receipt scanning, at no charge. The trial begins when you first launch the App after download.

6.2 Subscription Plans

After the free trial expires, continued use of premium features (including the AI assistant and receipt scanning) requires an active subscription. Subscription plans and pricing are displayed within the App and may vary by region. All purchases are processed through the respective app store (Apple App Store or Google Play Store) and are subject to their respective Terms of Service.

6.3 Service Tiers

SubTamer offers different service tiers:

Basic Plan: Limited access to core features with certain restrictions
Full Plan: Complete access to all features including AI assistant, receipt scanning with camera, advanced analytics, and subscription sharing

Users without an active subscription can still manually enter expenses but cannot use receipt scanning or advanced AI features.

6.4 Automatic Renewal

Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the current period ends. Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period through the payment method associated with your app store account.

6.5 Managing Subscriptions

You can manage and cancel your subscription at any time:

iOS users: Through your Apple ID Account Settings
Android users: Through your Google Play Account or the Google Play Store app

Cancellation will take effect at the end of the current billing period. No refunds will be provided for unused portions of the subscription period, except as required by applicable law or app store policies.

6.6 Price Changes

We may change subscription prices at any time. Price changes will not affect existing subscribers until their next renewal period, and we will notify you of any price changes at least 30 days in advance through the app, email, or other reasonable means.

7. Eligibility and Account Requirements

You must be at least 16 years old to use SubTamer. By using the App, you represent and warrant that you meet this age requirement.

7.1 Account Creation

You may create an account using supported authentication methods, including Apple Sign-In (iOS), Google Sign-In (Android), or other available options. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities that occur under your account.

7.2 Third-Party Authentication

When you use third-party authentication services (such as Apple Sign-In or Google Sign-In), you are also subject to the respective provider's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. SubTamer receives only the information you choose to share through these authentication services.

8. User Responsibilities and Acceptable Use

8.1 Accurate Information

You are responsible for ensuring the accuracy and completeness of all information you enter into the App, including subscription details, expense data, scanned receipts, and optional income data. SubTamer does not automatically verify, validate, or guarantee the accuracy of financial data you provide. The quality and accuracy of AI-generated insights and scanned receipt data depend on the accuracy of your input data.

8.2 Responsible Sharing

When using subscription sharing features, you agree to:

Only share data with users you trust
Understand the privacy implications of sharing financial information
Regularly review and manage your sharing permissions
Not share your account credentials with others
Not attempt to access data of other users without explicit permission
Respect the privacy of data shared with you by others

8.3 Prohibited Uses

You agree not to:

Use the App for any illegal, harmful, or unauthorized purpose
Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the App, AI services, receipt scanning systems, or other users' data
Interfere with or disrupt the App's functionality or servers
Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code
Use automated scripts, bots, or tools to access the App, AI features, or receipt scanning
Share your account credentials with others
Upload or transmit viruses, malware, or other malicious code
Violate any applicable laws or regulations
Attempt to circumvent or manipulate the subscription, trial, receipt scanning, or AI usage system
Use the AI assistant or receipt scanning to generate, store, or process illegal content
Abuse or excessively query the AI assistant or receipt scanning in ways that could disrupt service
Share data belonging to other users without their explicit permission
Misuse or misrepresent shared data from other users

9. Privacy and Data Protection

SubTamer collects, stores, and processes your personal and financial information to provide the App's functionality, including AI-powered features, receipt scanning, and subscription sharing. We are committed to protecting your privacy and will never sell, share, or disclose your data to third parties for commercial purposes.

Your data is stored securely using industry-standard encryption and security measures. When you use the AI assistant or receipt scanning, your subscription data, expense data, and extracted receipt text (not images) are securely transmitted to OpenAI for processing in accordance with their privacy policies. Receipt images are processed entirely on your device and are never uploaded, stored, or transmitted anywhere. For detailed information about our data practices, including AI data processing, receipt handling, and subscription sharing, please review our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.

When you use third-party authentication services (such as Apple Sign-In or Google Sign-In), AI services (OpenAI), or OCR services (Google ML Kit), we process authentication, AI, and receipt data in accordance with the respective provider's guidelines and your privacy preferences.

10. Intellectual Property Rights

All content, features, functionality, design, graphics, text, software, AI models, and other materials in the App are owned by SubTamer or its licensors and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

Subject to your compliance with these Terms and any active subscription, you are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the App for personal, non-commercial purposes only. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, lease, or create derivative works based on the App or its content.

AI-Generated Content: Charts, visualizations, receipt interpretations, and insights generated by the AI assistant based on your data are provided for your personal use. While you may save and reference this content, you acknowledge that the underlying AI technology and algorithms remain the property of SubTamer and its licensors.

11. Service Availability and Modifications

11.1 Service Availability

While we strive to provide continuous service, SubTamer may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, updates, technical issues, app store policies, or third-party service interruptions (including OpenAI service disruptions or Google ML Kit issues). We do not guarantee uninterrupted access to the App, AI features, or receipt scanning functionality.

11.2 App Modifications

We reserve the right to modify, update, or discontinue the App, AI features, receipt scanning, subscription sharing, or any of their features at any time. We may also impose limits on certain features, including AI assistant usage, receipt scanning frequency, or subscription sharing, or restrict access to parts of the App. Updates may be delivered through the respective app stores and may be required for continued use.

11.3 Feature Availability

Feature access depends on your service tier:

Basic Plan users have access to core functionality with certain limitations
Full Plan subscribers and trial users have access to all premium features, including the AI assistant, receipt scanning, and subscription sharing

We reserve the right to modify feature availability, limitations, AI usage quotas, receipt scanning limits, and tier structures at any time. Changes to existing subscriber benefits will be communicated in advance when possible.

12. Account Termination and Data Deletion

12.1 Termination by You

You may terminate your account and permanently delete all associated data at any time through the app's account deletion feature. This privacy-first feature ensures complete removal of your personal information.

12.2 Permanent Account Deletion Process

When you delete your account:

Your account is immediately deactivated
All personal data, subscription tracking information, expense records, extracted receipt text data, optional income data, preferences, sharing permissions, and AI conversation history are permanently deleted within 30 days
All sharing permissions you granted are immediately revoked, and users lose access to your shared data
You lose access to data shared with you by other users
Data shared with OpenAI for AI processing and receipt text interpretation is subject to their 30-day retention policy for abuse monitoring
This process is irreversible and cannot be undone
Data in backup systems is removed within 90 days
Note: Receipt images are never stored, so there are no receipt photos to delete

12.3 Critical: Subscription Billing Responsibility

Important Notice: Deleting your SubTamer account does NOT cancel your paid subscription through the app stores. You remain fully responsible for managing your subscription billing.

Your Responsibility: You must separately cancel your SubTamer subscription through your app store account settings
Continued Billing: If you do not cancel your app store subscription, you will continue to be charged even after account deletion
No Liability: SubTamer is not responsible for continued billing after account deletion if you fail to cancel your subscription
Clear Warning: The app will warn you about active subscriptions during the account deletion process

To cancel your subscription:

iOS users: Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions → SubTamer → Cancel Subscription
Android users: Google Play Store → Account → Payments & Subscriptions → Subscriptions → SubTamer → Cancel

12.4 Termination by Us

We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, engage in prohibited activities, fail to pay subscription fees, abuse AI features, misuse receipt scanning, misuse subscription sharing, or for any other reason at our discretion. We will provide reasonable notice when possible, but immediate termination may occur for serious violations.

12.5 Effect of Termination

Upon termination by either party, your right to use the App, AI features, receipt scanning, and subscription sharing immediately ceases. If you delete your account, all data will be permanently removed as described in our Privacy Policy. If we terminate your account, you will lose access to premium features, AI assistant, receipt scanning, shared data, and any data stored in the App, subject to applicable data retention policies.

Subscription Obligations Survive: Termination of your SubTamer account does not automatically cancel your subscription obligations with Apple App Store or Google Play Store. You remain responsible for managing and cancelling those subscriptions separately.

13. Third-Party Services

The App integrates with various third-party services including:

iOS: Apple App Store, Apple Sign-In, iCloud, and other Apple services
Android: Google Play Store, Google Sign-In, Google Play Billing, and other Google services
AI Services: OpenAI (GPT-4o-mini) for AI-powered insights, analysis, predictions, and receipt interpretation
OCR Services: Google ML Kit for optical character recognition and receipt text extraction
Other services: Cloud storage and synchronization services as applicable

Your use of these services is subject to their respective terms of service and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the availability, functionality, policies, or performance of third-party services.

OpenAI Services: When you use the AI assistant or receipt scanning, you acknowledge that OpenAI may process your data according to their terms and policies. We recommend reviewing OpenAI's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.

Google ML Kit: Receipt scanning uses Google ML Kit for OCR processing. Please review Google ML Kit Terms for more information.

14. Disclaimers and Limitations of Liability

14.1 "As Is" Disclaimer

SubTamer is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We disclaim all warranties, including but not limited to merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

14.2 Financial Disclaimer

SubTamer is a tracking tool only and does not provide financial advice, investment recommendations, or financial planning services. We are not responsible for any financial decisions you make based on information in the App, insights generated by the AI assistant, or data extracted from receipt scanning. You should consult with qualified financial professionals for financial advice.

14.3 AI and Receipt Scanning Disclaimer

AI-Generated Content and Scanned Data: The AI assistant provides insights, analysis, predictions, and receipt interpretation based on AI processing. We make no warranties regarding:

The accuracy, completeness, or reliability of AI-generated insights or scanned receipt data
The suitability of AI recommendations for your specific financial situation
The correctness of predictions, forecasts, or receipt interpretations
The timeliness or currentness of AI-generated information
The quality or legibility of scanned receipts
The accuracy of OCR text extraction

AI-generated content and scanned receipt data should be used for informational purposes only and should not be the sole basis for financial decisions. We are not liable for any decisions made based on AI insights or scanned data.

14.4 Subscription Sharing Disclaimer

Data Sharing Risks: When you share your subscription data with other users or receive shared data from others:

We are not responsible for how recipients use, view, or handle your shared data
We cannot prevent recipients from capturing, copying, or saving your shared information
We are not liable for any misuse, unauthorized disclosure, or other consequences of data sharing
Sharing is entirely at your own risk and discretion
We do not verify the identity or trustworthiness of users you share with
We cannot guarantee that shared data remains confidential after being shared

14.5 Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, SubTamer shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of profits, data, business opportunities, or financial losses arising from your use of the App, reliance on AI-generated insights, errors in scanned receipt data, misuse of subscription sharing features, or unauthorized access to shared data.

Our total liability to you for all claims arising from or related to the App shall not exceed the amount you paid for the App in the 12 months preceding the claim.

15. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless SubTamer and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses arising from your use of the App, violation of these Terms, misuse of AI features, misuse of receipt scanning, improper sharing of data, misuse of subscription sharing features, disclosure of other users' shared data, or infringement of any third-party rights.

16. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales, without regard to conflict of law principles.

Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the App shall be resolved through binding arbitration or in the courts of England and Wales, and you consent to the jurisdiction of such courts.

17. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, legal requirements, AI capabilities, receipt scanning features, subscription sharing functionality, or App functionality. When we make material changes, we will notify you via email, through the App, or other reasonable means at least 30 days before the changes take effect.

Your continued use of the App after the effective date of any changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not agree to the changes, you must stop using the App and may cancel your subscription.

18. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect. The invalid provision shall be replaced with a valid provision that most closely reflects the original intent.

19. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and SubTamer regarding your use of the App and supersede all prior agreements and understandings.
